I'd really like to poll about 1000 men and find out how many of the 1000 really enjoy cooking and do it often because you actually want to. And if you are a man who enjoys cooking, have you always enjoyed it or for how long have you? What made you first start enjoying it? Were you raised by someone who taught you? Etc. What are the factors that add to a male enjoying cooking?

When I was a kid, out of curiosity, I helped my mother with the cooking. I did minor things but it was fun. After many years of experimenting, I now cook many very tasty Italian dishes (have a great sauce for pasta).

Not only that, I bought a book on Chinese food & learned that too. I also cook most types of American food.

I think it's the different utensils (like tools to a man) that may have sparked my interest plus the taste and knowing that I have complete control over what ingredients to use to suit my desires...

Sometimes I question what goes on in the kitchens of some restuarants and eateries.

PS-All men should know how to cook (at least the basics), bec they may unexpectedly find themselves alone one day...fast-food is not too healthy.

I like the prep work. The slicing and dicing. It's probably some fascination with knives, although I don't really use knives in any other way. Once there is heat involved, I don't like it because I can never tell when something is done cooking. I've eaten many over cooked and under cooked meals.

I love to cook. My Mom cooked regular mid-western favorites. I cooked in restaurants on the west coast, so I've expanded my palette quite a bit. I also cook a lot more veg and seafood than I used to.

I enjoy cooking now because my mother made horrible tasteless food when I was growing up. Since you gotta eat, I think you should enjoy the food.

I do; I'm not that good at it, but I've learned a lot the past few years (if I had more time I'd tell you about my battle with eggs!) and there's a lot of satisfaction when a meal or dish turns out the way you planned & hoped for.

I love to cook. I began when I was very young. It's more pleasing to have a good meal for friends than to try and please a boss at work.
