if you are a congressman or woman and same with the senate if you get convicted of a crime and go to jail or thrown out of office .you still get paid should they get the same treatment as you or me if we go to jail ?

All they have to do is "retire" before they are sentenced &
they can collect for life. This is one of the issues the
Democrats are trying to change.
I'm sure the average taxpayer is loving the fact that their
hard earned money is going into someone's bank account
while they're serving jail time.
More people need to be made aware of this.

NEW ORLEANS — U.S. Rep. William Jefferson easily defeated a fellow Democrat in a runoff election Saturday, despite an ongoing federal bribery investigation.
With 71 percent of the precincts reporting, Jefferson, Louisiana's first black congressman since Reconstruction, led with 57 percent of the vote over state Rep. Karen Carter.
Carter was unable to capitalize on a scandal that included allegations that the FBI found $90,000 in bribe money in Jefferson's freezer.
In a concession speech, Carter embraced family members and pledged to work with Jefferson, especially on the area's recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
Jefferson was forced into the runoff against Carter when he failed to win 50 percent of the vote in a crowded open multiparty primary. Carter had sought to become the first black woman from Louisiana elected to Congress.
The people who paid the bribes are in jail now, why not him?

To think some of these people in jail make more money each year from their federal pensions than many working Americans make in a year is disgraceful. Don't talk to me about morals while this is allowed to exist in congress.

You made one assumption first, that they would ever get convicted and go into the federal prison systems in the first place. Even IF the charges did stick through court, they would be sentenced to a private facility far away from the "lowly criminals." Welcome to America, land of the free, home of the corrupt.
