The babys stay in their nests until they are old enough to leave. You don't see them 'cos you haven't looked for a nest.

When young birds fledge and leave the nest they are about the same size as adults. Some species have immature plumage and young birds can be distinguished that way but all the increase in size takes place in the nest before fledging.
