It's an old movie. All I remember is this kid who's laying in his bed with this old flashlight (the old shiney metal ones) and he clicks it on shining it on his wardrobe (or closet maybe) and the door to the wardrobe slowly open. And the rest is foggy, but I know the wardrobe is an opening to another world. And no, it's not the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe.

TIME BANDITS!!! That is totally it. And I remembered something medeival about some of the characters.
But that Fred Savage movie also brings back some memories. Thanks guys!!

You may be thinking of Terry Gilliam's time-hopping fantasy, "Time Bandits", which begins with a sequence of a boy shining his flashlight on the door to his wardrobe just before an armored knight bursts through it!
