I have the material to make a whip (deer hide) but do not know how to braid it. A website that shows how-to step by step would be very useful.

And I don't mean a bullwhip. Something more like a cat-o-nine or something like that.

How to Braid a Whip
Ever wanted to braid a whip? Now you can learn how!

Steps
Take three about equal pieces of stringy tree bark. Construct a square knot with two of the pieces of your bark.
In the middle of the square knot put the third piece of tree bark through, continue.
Put the left piece of tree bark over the middle.
Put the right piece of tree bark over the middle.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you run out of room.
Tie a knot to connect your three pieces of tree bark.
Make two more of those braids.
Now braid those.
Once you have done that make another one like that and tie it to the first one. Repeat to make it longer.

Tips
Don't whip a sibling, it can really hurt.
Check if whipping is illegal where you live.

Warnings
Do not whip self in face

Things You'll Need
Stringy tree bark
A brain (preferably a somewhat large one)
Fingers (you can find them on the tip of your right or left hands)

Start with 4 cords. Tie the ends together with a overhand knot. Stick a large safety pin through the knot and pin the cords to your jeans. Remember to always keep the cords taut as you go. Start with the far left cord then the far right. Pattern is simple...
behind 2 and over 1....With the far left cord, go behind 2 cords and bring it over in front of 1 of the 2 cords. Hold in place and with the far right cord, repeat.
