I agree. Investigations are the legal right of the legislative branch of government to issue "checks" to other branches, as in "checks-and-balances". Well these checks are out of control. They are using these checks like they are playing hockey.
They waste our money. And our patience.

The President and the Attorney General have full Constitutional rights to terminate and replace all US attorneys at their sole discretion. Congress has no Constitutional rights to control, investigate or prosecute these matters whatsoever.
President Clinton proved this when he terminated all US attorneys in 1993. There were no objections from Congress or the Media. AG Janet Reno stated that it is normal and routine to do so.
The investigation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is pure political theater, exactly as George Bush has termed it.
This is going to be a very ugly election coming up. It will tear the country apart and give great encouragement to the enemies who have sworn to destroy us.
Perhaps the best thing that could happen would be another lethal terrorist strike. Then the politicians would all get together and sing on the steps of the Capitol again. That was so, so...heartwarming (not...)

Carol Lam, one of the fired US prosecuting attorneys, prosecuted the case against Randy Duke Cunningham who admittedly took bribes in the amount of $2.4 million among other things. He was also a Republican and a war hero.
She was on the verge of prosecuting a high-ranking former CIA official.
Three others were investigating other Republicans. Some of them were against the death penalty. One did not investigate an election in which a Democrat won by 129 votes. All of these prosecutors had outstanding records but Gonzalez said otherwise. There have just been too many conflicting statements about this matter.
It should be investigated by Congress to be sure they weren't fired in order to stop certain corruption investigations. These positions are supposed to be nonpolitical. Otherwise, they would be ineffective if not worse.

As far as the Democrats are concerned its legitimate because they are experts at pointing fingers (yes alright, the Republicans are not so bad at pointing fingers themselves), but instead of looking for real issues (such as the horrendously high price of oil) they can get headlines by claiming there was something supposedly wrong with firing someone.......... hmmmm seems like they are demanding that Bush fire the Attorney General...but I guess that doesn't really count................ talk about political spin!!!!!!! What about the lack of the "Dems" 100 hour agenda... I may be mistaken but I don't think they have accomplished anything of their self articulated "100 hour agenda" .... so to take the headlines off themselves (and their total lack of being able to accomplish anything meaningful), they make up some huge ordeal about "political firings".... I may be mistaken, but I always thought that political firings were part of polictics........... Let's keep everything in perspective, if the media was smart enough (and unbiased enough) to see this rheoric for what it really is, then it would be regualated to last page of the paper, or maybe get a 15 second blurt on the national news....

Totally agree with you - when Janet Reno went on her witch hunt, no body bothered to alert the media!!! Double standard, when it hits democrats where it hurts, its a right-wing conspiracy, when it hits the Republicans, its all out war and the righteous indignation of the dems is so like throwing stones. It seems that neither party has a clue what to do for the american people, seems that the lobbiests are having a field day and controlling the politicians like puppets.!!! As Greg from the Wiggles so profoundly put it "Oh No" !!!

This is a political witchhunt. Those US Attorneys were political appointees serving under the pleasure of the President.
This inquiry is just hogwash.

Yes it's blown out of proportion (compared to Bill Clinton's firing 93, and Hillary being honest in saying she will fire all if elected). BUT he did lie and play games instead of being blunt and honest. Strike one. They have done little or nothing on illegal immigration and drug smuggling on teh Mexican border. Strike two. Ramos and Compean. Strike Three. Gonzalez and Sutton covering up the sex scandal at the Texas boys school, UNFORGIVEABLE!

this is real simple..its liberal pap...another attempt to divert attention from the power grab of the pelosi reid regime...no one seems to understand that attorneys work at the will of the president..its perfectly legal and if youll notice the fine print..this is all about the liberals"right to know" and nothing about the consitution...the laugher is Barack Obama identifying himself as a constitutional law proffessor to villify bush when in fact hes only a guest speaker and has never been a full proffessor at all. liberals have no shame, none whatsoever.

This is just the fuse lighting that's going to explode in the Bush camp. We live in an elected dictatorship. The legislative branches don't need to be overhauled, only the despots who occupy the chairs do.
