thoroughly understanding what happened helps. find something that you can do easily, something that you enjoy doing while you think about it. find the way you can go into autopilot so to speak, and figure out from a critical and objective standpoint where that loss falls in the scheme of things. if there is nothing that you can do about it, and you have taken all of the necessary steps to minimize it, if at all possible, then you need to let it go. sounds a lot easier than it may be, but really, you cant go through life depressed over things that have happened, things that you can not change.

in my case, running helps. for others it may be music, video games, painting, cooking, whatever. but for me, i hit the streets until i have figured it out. looking at it from every conceivable angle gives me closure in a way. i feel settled afterwords, helps me cut my losses and not make the same mistake again. but the running also lets me vent any anger, sublimating all of that pent up stressful energy. it lets me be happy again, because it gives me perspective, which is the key. if everything is in perspective, you get a clearer picture.

Not trying to be rude or mean or anything but how many questions are you going to ask about your dog. I answered one . I am going through it too. I had to put mine down yesterday and saw them put her to sleep. all I can say its not easy coping of someone or your pet death . but it does ease up.
