5.3 million ( Anglo-American commission 1949) it was first announced as 6 million in 1947 but later found that 680.000 Jews that had been listed as dead were in refugee camps around Europe, but the number 6 million was already so well publicized that it has been embraced and accepted since.

Most experts say that the Holocaust killed 6,000,000. Many more died on the front lines and in places like Leningrad which was under seige and starving for an entire winter.

According to a census taken prior to WWII there were only 4.5 million Jews living in all of Europe.In order to draw pitty the Jews have artificially bolstered the number to 6 million.
% wise more Gypsies died by the hand of Nazis.
