My brother once said our country was more elitist and our country isn't that democratic-he's in college. Can anyone give me examples about how our government isn't democratic and some websites about this?

Bush came into office and one of the first things he did was intervene in an airline strike. A president hadn't stepped in to do something like this in more than 30 years. Kind of like the Queen has the veto but it hasn't been used in 300 years. He said Americans' travel plans must not be disrupted. However, he's said little about the rising gasoline prices.

Then he tossed out legislation that had been years in the making regarding workmen's comp. He said it'd cost business too much money.

When he took office, we had a balanced budget and a surplus. You don't hear those words around Washington, today.

If he and his allies don't like the law, they attempt to change it. Or, they ignore it. Now, Congress wants some White house people to testify under oath and the White house has refused. Remember, even Bill Clinton went under oath; he lied but he still went through the motions. Bush won't even do that.

The U.S. economy is in an unsustainable position. A mere match could light the flames of inflation not seen since the late 1970s.

He has favored big business time after time. Haliburton was given contracts without open or even closed bidding. And, the prices they charged. The bankruptcy laws have been changed so that they fall more in line with what Dickens wrote about in the 19th.

The United States is ruled through dictatorship with the President and his party basically controlling foreign policy for their businesses, tax cuts for rich friends and giving consessions to allied interest groups.

Sometimes it can go the wrong way if the people are not vigilant! Or protect the rights they do have!

Your brother is a typical college student...
Not very realistic..
If you are not a liberal while in college, you have no heart..
If you are not a conservative as an adult, you have no brain..
