If you have to ask what they are, you are not old enough to use them nor to do what causes them to be necessary.

Sometimes a girl as young as 14 may go on the pill but when they do it is to treat a medical problem.

As for the actual age to start the pill that will depend on the parent's decision and the dr because in many States there are parent notification laws in place.

As for the side effects, weight gain can be a side effect but that weight gain is just that of water and the average weight gain is only about 5-10 pounds. Breast tenderness is another side effect that can occur.

There are different kinds (and I'm talking about brands now) of birth control pills out there. Some of them in shot form.

If you think that you have a medical problem going on that might require the use of the pill pls talk to your mom as well as your dr about what is going on to see if this a safe option for you.

there isn't a age for being on any kind of birth control. Usually women that want to start taking birth control they usually want to take it because they are sexually active or to help there menstrual cycle.
Every birth control has there own side affects. Usually when you want to start taking birth control, you would need to go to your ob gyn doctor. You would need to get a pap exam done if you haven't already. The reason why they do this before your on a birth control is to check for and STD's or if your pregnant.
Good luck

The "pill" works by convincing your body that you are pegnant so ovulation does not occur. You need to at least have started your menstrual periods before starting it. Side effects do occur all the way from blood clots and cancer to weight gain and depression. A good conversation with your doctor is essentail before you start.

you have to be over 16 if you don't want your parents to know about it.

possible side effects are:
weight gain, neasea, spotting, depression; these don't happen with everyone just with some people.

you can make an appointment with your doctor to talk about it

Visit a Planned Parenthood clinic. They will tell you all you need to know. They also have a website.
