This definition stands for a population and not for a community.A community(better called biotic community) is a collective term for a number of populations living together in an ecosystem and interacting with each other and with the abiotic components of the biosphere. A population on other hand is a groug of individuals of same species living together.

This is a definition of a population. A community is an association of interacting populations. In other words a community is made up of a number of populations and comprises of all the living organisms in a particular environment.

definately a population. all the organisms in a single environment are a community, while all the organisms of a spefic species in that environment are a population.
