About 3 weeks ago my "service engine soon" light came on. Got it checked out, mechanic couldn't find anything wrong and reset it. Now the light has gone back on and the spedometer has quick working (stays on 0 while I drive) and mileage reader isn't even recorder my mileage. It is stuck.

Also the main problem is that it takes a long time for it to change gears while I drive. The RPMs go as high as 4000. Sometimes it switches gears and sometimes not. I have to drive so slow until it switches gears. It keeps revving up so high I am scared to drive it.

What could it be and how much to fix it. It is automatic.

I will bet my life the 'check engine' light on was for a P0500 VSS signal missing. This means the vehicle speed sensor has failed, or you have an open circuit somewhere between the vehicle speed sensor connector, and the PCM. More than likely it's the speed sensor though. This particular sensor is what's called a "shared input", meaning it is used by the PCM for the purpose of 'shift scheduling', which explains the delayed upshift symptom, because the PCM doesn't "know" how fast the vehicle is going. This also explains why your speedometer is not working, since this input is obviously missing. Hope this helps.

It's all because your speedometer quit. The transmission shifts funny because it's not getting a speed reading and the bad speedometer signal makes the engine light come on. Get the speedometer fixed and I bet the other problems go away.

Check your speed sensor on your car it may not be plugged in or may have beurned out. THat is prbably why the car won't shift. IT communicates to the range selector to shift the transmission.

My air conditioner is not blowing cold air. Has happened before and just needed to reset through the panel by holding down a series of buttons. Can t remember the order.
