While playing a online game called warcraft3 my computer froze for about 30 seconds, when my computer unfroze i my computer was running a lot slower then what it normally does. My computer now takes around 10 times longer and all my programs now run a lot slower. Also while i am playing a computer game(which is running a lot slower then normal) my computer will start running extremely slow for around 5 seconds then go back to normal. I have the latest DirectX, latest drivers,Windows XP home, intel pentium 4 3.00GHz, 1GB RAM, RADEON 9250 graphics card and my hardware acceleration is set to max. I also have a good internet connection so my computer running slow will not be caused by that. I have REMOVED all SPYWARE and VIRUSES from my computer and i am still having this problem. I have also done a registry scan.

I have no idea what would cause this problem. If you need any more information about my problem or computer specs please ask. I really need with problem fixed ASAP

There are several primary areas that could be causing your computer to run slow. The most likely reason is that your registry has become corrupt, you have too many programs running behind the scenes and your system is essentially running in circles with its internal processing.
To determine if your system is in fact running slow because of problems in your registry and temp files and then speed up your computer, you will need to run a self diagnostic program called regsitry cleaner. This program is very very useful,it can fix regsitry errors, clean registry remnant, corrupt files and temp files in a few minutes. Then give you a bran-new and high-speed computer. There are collection and comparison of top rated registry cleaner:

The second most common problem is that you have spyware in your computer.Spyware not only pop up ads, collect personal info, but also can hamper your computer's performance. It use system resources and slow your computer down. Detecting and removing the programs will improve system performance.

Problems happening "all of a sudden" are usually viruses or trojans.

Make sure your virus scanner is up to date and do a full scan, all files.

Also run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/... to do a second virus scan (just in case you's is missing one).

If those are ok, try running CCLEANER (free). And also Microsoft Defender (free) for spyware.

have you tried running defragmenter and the long scan disk?

for defragmenter, go to Start / Accessories / System Tools / Disk Defragmenter

to run scandisk go to Start, click on My Computer, RIGHT HAND click local c drive, go to Properties, then click the Tools Tab, at the top of that window it will say Error-checking This option will check the volume for errors'' under that it says ''Check Now..'' , click check now and then tick both the boxes that say ''Automatically fix file system errors'' and ''Scan for and attempt to recovery of bad sectors'', then click the button that says start next to cancel, then you will need to restart your computer, while your restarting a blue screen will come up and begin scanning, it takes about 20 minutes but that depends on how fast your computer is

if you just tick the first box it only takes a couple minutes, but its best to tick both boxes

i explained all that incase you didnt know how to do it, you might have already tried this, i dont know, but doing defragmenter and scandisk always fix my computer when its running slow, i hope this is helpfull

Maybe a virus.

By the way, it is "my computer is running extremely SLOWLY, not extremely slow.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I really do hate it when people don't put their "ly"s on their adverbs.
