I know my males do this when they are trying to show dominance over the other or when they get a whiff of my female. I have caged my female with my males before and after-wards they would do this. I usually just clean the cage and give them each a bath with warm water and gentle soap to remove the smell of any other guineas.
As far as them being skiddish all I can suggest is that you take things slow with them and make sure you handle them for a little each day. It will take some time but eventually they will get used to your touch and wont run away any longer. It took about a month for mine to stop running every time I put my hand in the cage.

Nothing is wrong with the two males trying to mate. I know it's really gross but some animals just do stupid stuff like that. When I got my Satin Guinea pig and my japanese hooded rats they were very skiddish. All you cna do is handle it alot. If you have a plastic igloo or something he can hide in take it out for a couple hours a day so that he knows when hes not in it everything will still be okay. Don't overstimulate him to much though. Just work with him a little at a time and be sure to hand feed him plenty of treats!! Good Luck!!

Mounting is a normal guinea pig behavior to sort out the social hierarchy. If you try to interrupt them, you're just delaying the process. At one year old, one of them is also at the tail-end of puberty, which compounds the problem.
As long as they aren't biting at each other hard enough to draw blood, let them interact as they will. They know how to sort out their differences, and don't be surprised if they repeat the behavior everytime you clean out the cage.

Very natural that they seek eachother for lack of female, and natural feelings in body to encourage breeding.
Get a female or seperate them if it is a bother.
Socializing takes commited time.
Set a schedule for a few times a day to hold him, to let friends hold him.
It wont happen overnight, but it wont happen at all without commitment.

males will do this mine did this to my rabbit and vice verses but the rabbit got too routh.
i just told the rabbit off every time he did it but i could never catch the g-pig doing it but as the rabbit was white it was obvious. but after a while he stoped doing it as mush.
it starts when they become mature. so tell it off when it does ot. or the other male may sort it out its self.
you could get them both nutered

They are in a new environment. Different sights, sounds and smells. They will calm down in a few weeks. Give them lots of attention.
