My fave 1st date activites generally begin with an early dinner at a cozy restaurant. And then a long walk somehwere, like on a beach or through a park. That way we can converse with a beautiful & soothing environment around us. And then cap the night off at either a live jazz cafe for dessert, or a trendy bar for a few drinks.

When I was dating I liked a weekend brunch. That way if it was going good I'd suggest an afternoon matinee or a walk in the park or windowshopping for awhile.

I think "coffee dates" are the best thing going. It's quick, public, and not overly wrought with meaning.
And I don't even drink coffee!! :o)
Obviously this is something that is not exclusively LGBT, although most of my "coffee dates" happen to be in the Castro.

I once took someone out on a date of rock climbing.
I only did it because I knew they would like it and were into it.
Thats not exactly a conventional date for lgbt or straight persons alike.
