That's exactly what my daughter did with me. I always made myself available but was told by many to wait and see if she wants to make contact with you. She did and we are now great friends and talk to one another almost every day. The family stress was difficult and still is on both ends, but we would do it again. It was worth it.

It depends on what YOU want and how you feel about it. I met my biological father a couple of years ago (i'm not adopted) whom I have never known. It was ok but I wasn't impressed and haven't seen him since. If it will somehow answer any questions you have then go for it. At the end of the day you can meet and if you don't want to continue to see him again, then you don't have to

I'm adopted, and I used to think I'd want to meet my biological father. But after all these decades of the man never pursuing one single bit of contact with me, I realize that he doesn't give a damn about me. He doesn't care whether I'm dead or alive. So no, I don't really want to meet a creep like that. However, I'd like to know his name, just out of curiosity. Thanks to sealed adoption records, I've never been able to find out.

I would say go for it; to me family is more than donating sperm and egg... he only wants to meet you, see how you turned out, see what you look like, right? That's not family, that's just meeting someone, it does not mean that you are then obligated to treat him as a close family member, does it?

If his reason for giving you up is not good enough the do not meet him. He isn't worth it.
