Right before my period starts I always get some white mucus.

My fertility counselor says this happens for many women. It's hormones.

If you continue spotting for a week or two and don't get a "real" period, then you might want to take a pregnancy test. Depo and other hormonal birth control does weird stuff to a woman's reproductive system.

Never will take that stuff.

It depends of how the white stuff looks. Most women have healthy discharge throughout the month. When you are fertile then the discharge is clear and this helps the sperm get to the egg easier this usual occurs within 24-48 hour window to conceive. After ovulation you may get a white discharge that is more milky and rough looking ( like school paste). This makes it more difficult for sperm to get around. When the discharge is a different color or smells then you should get checked by a health proffessional.

It sounds more like you spot or have a little bleeding when you ovulate. Are you sure it is a real period? Spotting is normal when ovulating. Its from the ruptured ovary and the change in hormones.
