We are all overly critical of ourselves to some extent, so I agree... we should lay off the beating up of our selves when the issue is something small and unimportant on the scale of things.

Definitely not-I think you should criticize yourself. If you don't someone will eventually, about the things you chose to ease up on yourself for. It doesn't mean you have to think bad of yourself, for correcting yourself. Unless you prefer to not be your own authority; maybe some do. Of course if it's not your job to criticize yourself you might not be contributing to creating more jobs! Also if you think this way it might lead to your becoming abused by authority, so whatever works for you!

Fact is you ARE who you ARE, which means that your identity and self worth shouldn't be determined by something as silly as how you respond to your own screw-ups. The way your brain is supposed to work is that your thoughts either conscious or subconscious are present and legitimate and are part of your mental and emotional make-up. Making a conscious decision afterwards to respond to what is already going on within the confines of your brain is a pointless waste of time. The next time you mess up, think quickly about how you'll better act next time and move on. - OOGABOOGA37

Yes, I think that people shouldn't beat themselves up. No one's perfect. But they should also work on improving themselves.

I think people definitely need to learn how to forgive themselves and to not sweat the small stuff.
