I'm sure you mean, "How much time should a woman need to loose the extra weight?"
Because SURELY you didn't mean you are in control of her & will give her dire consequences for not meeting your expectations. Surely not!
If a person is dieting & exercising, they can lose 2 pounds a week. But with a new baby, she probably isn't able to attack her weight so aggressively. One pound a week is a more realistic rate.
Trying to lose faster than that is very unhealthy, especially shortly after giving birth.

After the pregnancy the woman should probably breast feed so they should be well nourished. Their weight loss shouldn't be that important right now as the baby's health and nutritional intake is very important at this stage. Given time....if she wants to lose weight afterwards, she could lose about 1-2 pounds / week to be healthy. Generally they say that more than that amount of weight loss is unhealthy

Well, it depends on your wife.
Some people has more trouble loosing weight, just give her time; remember she does not have to loose the weight if she doesn't want to, and never rushes her or tell her that she would look better slimmer.
BE A GENTLEMAN! p.s. she would still be breastfeeding so give her time.

Well since I'm going on 21 months and still haven't lost that last 5-10 pounds I'm going to say that 4 years is good.

It is NOT up to 'the man' to set a 'time' for his wife to 'lose weight' ... unless he'd rather be her 'ex' ... you need to 'get a real life' if you thought you could 'get this one by' ANY WOMAN ...
