the stat is actually this: they will be the first team to have 3 guys score thirty or more goals on the same team but none of them are older tham 21 NOT drinking age that wouldn't be a record to even talk about. there is a clear difference

I was at a Also, can you back up this claim? I don't doubbar with Sidney in P.E.I last July ( I wasn't with him, he was just there) and he was only 18 and had a drink in hand. Although the drinking age there is 19.
t it to be true but would like to see a source.
Actually, I can't think of whatever team could have had 3 guys under 21 with 30 goals BUT remember that back when there was alot less teams, guys toiled in the minors for years before they got there spot on the big team. Staal would have never made an original 6 team as an 18 year old and heck, for that matter, there were no Russians so if this was a 1970 Pittsburgh team, only Crosby would be on it so it is an inflated stat. Interesting nonetheless.

I think that Jordan Staal will hit at least 30 goals this season. If not, it's still a heck of a rookie season for someone who sweat out his first 10 NHL games to see if he'd even stay or not! I've been very impressed with him AND the entire team thus far...
I'm hoping to see him score tomorrow night against the Maple Leafs. He has scored more goals on them than any other team PLUS he scored his first NHL hat trick against them...but I guess we'll see tomorrow...
It's going to be really hard for them to catch up to Buffalo's 105 points, but not entirely impossible. Both teams have pretty similar stats: The Sabres are leading in GF by about 20 goals where the Pens have only given up 7 more than them. The Pens have 4 games left - 2 home and 2 away - and they have not only done extremely well on home ice, but just about as well away. In the last 10 games, the Pens have gone 8-2-0 whereas the Sabres have gone 5-3-2. I guess the real test will be when the 2 actually meet head-to-head next Tuesday...(followed by Ottawa on Thurs.).
Seems like it would be too hard for the Pens to overcome here, but I would really like to see it. Take it and run boys!
Let's Go Pens!!!
PS - The point that this asker is making is that it will be a record for 3 players under the age of 21, that's all. Nothing really worth reading into...

Kind of stretching for a news day stat don't you think? Especially since Crosby and Malkin are old enough to drink in their home town. Staal's hometown is 4 hours away from Manitoba, drinking age 18. I suppose that is why they are all planning trips home this summer.
So I say he scores it April 5. When they play in Ottawa, and can drive the 15 minutes to Gatineau, Quebec where they can all dink. Or maybe tonight, in Toronto where 2 of them can go celebrate with a drink.

Not going to catch Buffalo... hopefully they can stay ahead of Jersey. But I think Staal will get a goal, probably in the next game or two

I think he will get it, but the Penguins AREN'T catching the Sabres. Even as a Pens fan I'm going to be realistic about this one. The best the Penguins can do is 108. The Sabres therefore only need 4 points to be sure the Pens won't catch them. The Sabres have 6 games left. Sure the next three may be tough-Islanders, Montreal, Pens- but the last three are easy- Bruins, Capitals, Philly.

Well I looked at google.com, Wikipedia, nhl.com , other websites and the NHL record book, and there is no record for "players on the same team with 30 goals that can't legally drink". Where are you getting this?
And No, Pittsburgh will NOT catch the Sabres.
And no, Pittsburgh will NOT win the Stanley Cup.
And no, Crosby is NOT better than Gretzky all- time.
And yes, there are 29 other NHL teams.
EDIT: My point is that "not many people realize this" because there IS no such record.
And "boondockSaint", if you are going to post personal attacks, then you may want to make YOURSELF look knowledgable by presenting an example --- assuming you have anything.

The drinking age has not always been 21 in the US and I thought Canada had a lower drinking age; perhaps the habitual Hab can let us know about that later today.
The Pens will not catch the Sabres. Even if the Pens win their last 4 games (unlikely proposition) they still wont catch the Sabres. Buf has 2 games in hand and half their remaining games are against teams that aren't even competitive.
Worry more about the Devils retaining first in the division.

April 3rd against Buffalo. But I don't believe they will catch them for first place, Buffalo has a five point lead and that's a lot considering their are only 4 games remaining for the Pens. Buffalo has 5 games remaining and they really only need to win two of them to put it out of reach. their last two games are Washington and Boston. so good luck with that.

He will score it, and Pittsburgh could catch Buffalo, but the question you need to ask yourself is: does it matter?
Sharks are looking good. They're deep and balanced and should have no trouble in the postseason.
