It is rumored that ARod may opt out of this contract after this year and Brian Cashman has already said the Yankees are not interested in offering another long term contract to him. ARod's services are still probably worth in excess of $130million, after factoring in the contracts that Carlos Lee and Alfonso Soriano got. And ARod is just entering his 30s. Where will he go? Boston?

Lou Piniella has been wanting A-Rod since the day he took the manager job in Chicago. If A-Rod opts out the Cubs will pursue him till the very end and could very well get him.

The teams that have come up are the Angels, Cubs and White Sox. A key question at that point might be, can Rodriguez still play shortstop. That might make a difference on where he could wind up. I don't know if the Red Sox would spend the necessary money for him, as he'd probably be in the $20 million neighborhood. That's more than twice of what Lowell earns.

Truth is I don't see much demand for him through the league. The guy is clearly a "me first guy". I think he would do miserable in Boston---too much pressure. I still fear guys like Travis Hafner, Jim Thome, Vlad Guerrero, Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols more then Arod ---he should play somehwere he can be all about him...somewhere the expectations are not so high...because he crumbles. If you are that good--you are not on 3 teams going on your 4th (very soon I assure you) within 7 years. And as far as 25 mill per...you have to be a seriously stupid owner to over pay for that guy.

There are only a handful of teams that can afford $25M for a single player: Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs, Mets, and maybe 2 or 3 others. Of those, the Red Sox seem most in need of an upgrade at 3B or SS.

He'll Never go to Boston, Fans dont want him, they dont want him. He doesnt like to play for big teams that put loads of pressure on him, he'll probaly go to a Small-Market team that give him 15-20 Millon dollars, if you have noticed he played for two small market teams before the Yankees, Mariners, Rangers..Thats my guess. Hes never comfterable with big-budget big-winning teams. He just wants to do his job, get his money, and not be yelled at and boo at while fans yell ''Arod You Suck!""

There is a very likely chance he will come to Boston. This is because with Lowell contract letting up next season, we will have a position at 3B open. This gives us a chance to add A-Rod. And Lowell has taken up a load of our payroll giving us extra money for A-Rod.

More than likely, he'll end up on the Chicago Cubs so he can play for Lou Pinella.
