Since you like the idea of jewelry, check out www.bluenile.com.
I've shopped w/ this site for myself & for gifts. The offer great jewelry @ great prices. ex) freshwater pearl earrings starting around $40, Tiffany inspired sterling silver necklaces under $150 & bracelets well under $100
I have a friend in the wholesale jewelry business who says they are stringent in terms of quality and price which is why I decided to try them. She is right & I haven't been disappointed. (2 sterling silver bracelets, 1 sterling silver necklace, 1 freshwater pearl bracelet for gifts & 2 prs. of 18 K earrings for myself)

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

Wow I was going to say "Tiffany's Necklace" but she's a tomboy so get something that matches her style.
Try brands like Volcom, Paul Frank, and go to West 49 for some shirts !

You can't go wrong with Tiffany's. I know its expensive, but every teenager wants a Tiffany item, especially a bracelet. Also, necklaces with several charms at the bottom are very in this year.

I have a great idea there is a website called www.acn.com or jewelry television.com that have these neat necklace for 15.99 and they come with a pearl that she open the oyster herself there are different ones heart and etc.. and what ever color pearl she gets has a neat meaning behind it. It is inexpensive and neat all sterling silver with a real pearl. Hope this helped.

Depending on what she wears, a charm bracElet is always a great gift!! You can put charms on it of the certain things that she's accomplished! Every year she could add more, or you could continue buying her new charms as she moves through life!

Give her a Good Sports Wear of her choice so she can use it.
Give something which suits her profession or which will be useful for her carrier.
So I disagree with just a Necklace!

You can get a necklace at Tiffany's for about $200. You don't have to spend $2K for it. Just browse through their jewelry.

or just look through the rest of their stuff.....you probably just have to get a silver item though.
