Overdrive allows the engine to run at lower RPM's during cruising speeds which saves gas, so anytime you are cruising on the highway or freeway use overdrive. If you are in stop and go traffic, pulling a trailer, or in snow avoid using overdrive.

Overdrive means to let the engine have "less power".. so for example... if you're driing under 40mph... you would put it "off" for more torque/power.... but if you were on the freeway going over 40mph.. and its just straight way.. you dont need that much power, so you would put it on, so in turn it saves you gas.... but its up to u how u use it... I put it on all the time for my car, cuz GAS is SO EXPENSIVE right Now... so yeaa... im not racing or anything, and dont have steep hills to be driving to....

basically yes, your transmission knows when to shift by itself when climbing a hill or when you kick it down to pass someone, just leave it in overdrive and relax.

Yes its the easyest and most practical, drive and lower gears should be used for mountainous driving or towing.

Only when you're going over 45; slower than that just keep it in regular D. You'll see what I mean.
