Basically, the main thing to look for is cervical mucus, which should start out pretty scarce and then get thicker and increase in quantity as you ovulate. You should start to see this mucus secreted right after, or within days of, your period. Even the smallest quantity means you are entering your fertile time.
Fertile mucus is either opaque and white or clear and stretchy like egg-white. You'll probably feel "wet" throughout the day during the time of ovulation.
Conversely, after you ovulate, the mucus will become scarcer and then you will experience "dry days." Checking your basal body temperature each morning also tells you that you are past ovulation because your temp will rise in an upward pattern. You can easily get a good basal thermometer at a drugstore or online and will need to check it each morning at the same time.
A woman's fertility is so much more complex than just "14 days after your period or 14 days before the next." If you'd like more info about tracking your fertility and also need more tips on maximizing your chances of becoming pregnant, check into the Couple to Couple League. They are great and sell lots of good books, supplies, etc. WWW.CCLI.ORG
The book on all this is called The Art of Natural Family Planning (bet you could find it real cheap on Ebay!). My husband and I have used the method with 100% effectiveness for three years now. It can help you conceive, or space the next child if you have good reasons for doing so.

go to www.mymonthlycycles.com they have a calculator that can tell you an estimate of when your ovulating as long as you have a basic idea of how long your cycle is it will be pretty accurate. the more regualar your cycle is the more accurate it will be. so say if your cycle is basically 31 at the most 32 days, and dont vary more then that then I would put 31 as your cycle length, and 14 as the luteal phase(which is the default/average length) so lets say from your last period it would calculate april 10th as your first fertile day, ovulation would be the 13th(14th if it was a 32 day cycle), and your last fertile day would be the day after your ovulation... so any day from the 10th through the 15th(depending on 31,or 32 day cycle) you can get pregnant. I would stick with the 31 day cycle/14 day luteal phase, and just add two extra days onto it so it would be ovulation on the 13th, and two days after that where you may still be ovulating/fertile to be safe. Hope that helps.

Best thing to do with these is to track your temperature every morning at 6 or 7 am... also do not drink alcohol. It's normal to have cycle days last shorter or longer amounts of days in a month. The temperature will tell you the day you begin ovulation because it will be 2 degrees higher. Didn't your kit include a thermometer?? Good luck. KJ

Typically, you ovulate 14 days before your next period. So, if you are having a 31 day cycle, you most likely would ovulate on day 17.

Count from the day you started, than between the11 to 15 days. You will notice when you are more wet. For example, you with have more like mucus (white or yellow) when you clean yourself.
