did they really do so at the behest of the British war hawks...to add more fuel to fire/an added excuse to attack Iran? And what happened to the Iranian captives being held in Iraq under the United States' orders?
Appears to me that Bush and Ahmadinejad are very similar in their tactics, even though it is the British navy who are being held captive. We all know, Or at least we SHOULD know, that the USA and Britain work in cohesion with each other.
But after a while, these back and forth "tactics" become puerile.

I have to laugh. I am intelligent enough - having come to this category for 3 months now - to realize that most conservatives who do not agree with me automatically "label" me as a liberal. You are totally incorrect.

Here's something you might find interesting:

The USA has been holding 6 Iranian diplomats since Jan. 11 :

The coalition picked this fight, dared Iran to do anything, and now that the Iranians did something are acting like they are innocent victims.
The US has been playing "catch and release" and sometimes just "catch" with Iranian nationals for some time - including seizing diplomats, who should be even more "off limits" than soldiers. No one in the West seemed to give a damn about that, so any screaming and whining and outrage about grabbing the sailors is just hypocrisy - Why should only the West be allowed to grab hostages but if someone else does it's some great outrage? None of this is to say that Iran should have grabbed hostages. It may have been a very stupid thing to do. But it's not some great moral outrage - it's just tit-for-tat. The US has been seizing Iranians more or less arbitrarily, and holding them in more isolated circumstances than these soldiers are being held in. I doubt the soldiers are being tortured - who knows what has been done to the Iranians seized.

Of course they are being forced to say that they entered Iranian territory. Read their body language, look at their faces, listen to them speak. These sailors don't believe a thing they are saying in Iran's videos.

There is a difference between the Iranians we are holding in Iraq and the British sailors. The Iranians we are holding were in Iraq when they were captured, the British sailors were not in Iranian waters according to GPS data released by the British government and the statement made by the ship the sailors were searching at the time. To the best of my knowledge, American troops do not leave Iraq and enter Iran for the purpose of capturing Iranians. The Iranians did leave Iran to capture the sailors.

We are still holding the Iranians in Iraq. How do you explain the satellite coordinates several satellites picked up showing the British ships were never in Iranian waters?
Bad tactics if you never went in Iranian waters.
Yes, the US & Britian are allies & on the same side but not the side to force a war with Iran during the Iraq war.
My son is an Army Ranger & Captain & says this theory is stupid - I asked him last night.

I agree that any statement of any person that is under the complete mercy of a avowed enemy (Yes the RG is an avowed enemy of the west) then one should comply with their silly games and then disavow them once they have regained freedom. One should not think less of those that have made statements. If you really think they are traitors, try being a prisoner under those circumstances. My two Cents.

The answer to your question is yes. The rest of your babble indicates you are among the leftist wackos who think America is responsible for all the ills of this world.

Of course they were coerced to make the confessions. Didn't you see how hungry they were, by wolfing-down their food, after making their statements? They were probably unfed for days.

It is time for the Brits to call upon the Mossad to extricate the sailors.

I love this.

Iran captures, tortures and in the end will kill British citizens yet it's Americas fault.

Another example of liberals and their mentality.

Turkey's leadership is trying to get them to release the one female of the group. wonder how it will all pan out.
