#1, What are you trying to accomplish? Endurance or looks? If you're not active now, start by walking 20-30 minutes a day. Preferably on different incline types of tracks, roadways, or trails. If you're past that stage, go to the gym on concentrate on 3 main exercises... 1. leg extension machine, 2. hamstring curls, and 3. calf raises. my advice is to look at the machines directions for appropriate form, and begin with light weight until you feel comfortable. This might take more than 2 weeks. Be patient. Try 3 sets of each exercise, and increase the weight with every set. Do 8-12 repetitions. For optimal results, a combination of walking/running, and weight exercises will be best. Good luck, and please let me know if I can assist you further...

football wise, you want to stay away from weights, for quick acceleration sprint up a very short, steep hill about 15-40 times. not just forward sprints though, sideways backwards. then two foot jump up the hill then 1 foot. then when you want to go to the next level, use free weights while doing the hill sprinting. It worked for me but you might be different.
