This happened to me a few years ago -- early 2000s. Of course, I was angry and carried around that negative emotion for a long time (mostly internally) because what happened to me wasn't fair. And it affected my energy and job searching. But I realized that it was a blessing in disguise. I found another career path and better job. Also, took night classes. Well, bad management still peeves me. I came to the realization that it wasn't about job performance but more like not fitting in with a bunch of middle-aged cliques. Office politics should be banned! Of course, I know it won't, but you know what I mean. I'm sick of that and favoritism.

Bottom line is this -- to some bad apple bosses, value & loyalty mean nil. Their faulty perceptions take over and it's all about who they like versus work productivity. My current job has all sorts of characters -- sometimes personalities clash -- but nobody is let go or fired. There's a more human aspect to management, thank goodness.

It means just that, not fit for the job. That can be for any number of reasons and not fitting in with the atmosphere of the workplace is perfectly valid. One bad apple in an office affects the entire productivity.

The best employee is one who is able to read the various personalities and accommodate accordingly. When working with people you wouldn't be friends with, you still have to get along.

The dynamics of an office environment or team environment are critical. You may be a "genius" but if you can't work well with others and fit into the team you are hired to work with, then your employer is right to terminate your employment. The productivity of the group is a higher priority than your hurt feelings.

Glad you found something better suited for you.

I've had that happen myself, and I think some company's hire people that they think will be "brown nosers" or their best friends at times.
Glad to hear you found a new path, and while managers and companies will always have "problem" people, make the most of your life, and realize, it is only a job, and try not to take the stress home at the ned of the day.

get a job where they are unionized. We dont have most of the B.S. other places dont. and seniority rules, if a job is open, it doesnt matter who likes who, or the bosses son is there, the highest seniority qualified person gets the job.

I went through some of the stuff you did in past jobs, and it sucked. So I am glad I work where I do now, it still has problems, but is a lot better than anywhere else I worked
