You do not wear black work shoes into a nice restaurant. You wear dress shoes. Depending on your work, some work shoes, like those who work in offices may be acceptable. If your work on a factory floor then definitely no. Depends on how "dressy" the work shoes look. In all cases make sure they are clean and shined.
Now I get it. Better said. You work in a nice resteraunt, so you want to know what sort of black work shoes you need or what is acceptable.

I'm not sure if I completely understand your question, so I apologize in advance if I answer the wrong way.
If what you're saying is that you are going to be working in a restaurant and want to know how to dress, it depends first if you'll be working in the front or the back of the house.
As a server, any black casual shoe should be fine, so as long it is solid black - no stripes or other colors of any kind. A slip-on shoe is sometimes best, so you don't ever have to stop and tie them, or risk injury. It can get brutal out there.
The real key here though, is comfort. Long hours on your feet can be trechourous if you're in uncomfortable shoes. Pay the extra money if you can and call it a "business expense" - get the good ones. Also, be sure to get foam or gel inserts. They make a difference.
-Hope this helps.

Most restaurants (even fine-dining restaurants) require their employees to wear shoes with slip-resistant soles for safety reasons. You can buy good quality, nice looking restaurant shoes from Shoes for Crews. They have a catalog and a website. They offer almost any shoe to fit your work environment, and they provide footwear for both front and back of the house employees.

I always got mine from Wal-Mart. They were a black (fake) leather, but had a great insole and slip resistant sole and laces. They were cheap, but lasted a long time. And they blended right into my black pants really well. And they didn't look like work shoes, so I could easily wear them when I wasn't at work.

tread safe you can get them at wal-mart. Shoes for crews are expensive and have always fallen apart in 8 weeks when I would use that brand.
