I prefer short story collections to novels. I love Alice Munro & Raymond Carver & Sherman Alexie & Edmund P. Jones & Tobias Wolff...

Anyone have any favorite short story writers they want to suggest?

I love 9 stories by Salinger as well.

But I think my favorite short story is "The Scarlet Ibis" by James Hurst.

It's a beautiful story, very poignant and really vivid. You'll never forget it. Love the Necklace too--very ironic.

If you love irony, try O'Henry stories.

Gosh, I love questions about reading...such a great change from the Anna Nicole and Brittany questions!
