This question is clearly in the wrong section. Maybe try one of the forums related to athleticism or sports. If you're looking for an answer involving math, I suggest you measure the length of your horizontal distance traveled, take the midpoint of that distance which represents the highest part of your parabolic trajectory, and then ensure that always jump from a point such that your highest point will be reached when you are directly under the basket.

If that doesn't work, try a trampoline.

get a box and jump on and off of it as fast as possible. the key is to try to jump as soon as you land. do this for a month and you should add at least a few inches to your hops. another etchnique is just walking around and not letting your heels touch the ground, you will look stupid but will gain significant calf strength. it depends on your age too... i mean can you even grab the rim? if you can't at 5'11" then odds are you won't ever be dunking since you'll need to increase you vert by like 2 feet...

you could run an try jumping or you find out how high you jump by marking inches on a wall put your hand on it remeber where it was and then jump and find out high your jump is then if your jump isn't high enough get something to stand on and then jump.
