I think they should have separate subject matter categories, not artistic technique categories. Anime and manga are very popular, but there are many who grew up with Western style comic books and find the vast flood of new material a little overwhelming.
For that matter, there are many fans of one or another particular anime, who are just as loyal to their favorites and just as vocal when it comes to defending them against those who prefer a different anime as, for example, fans of Marvel Comics and DC Comics. I would be happy to see separate categories.

As has been mentioned, there is some crossover, and while I don't agree on the point of different fanbases (just because someone likes vanilla it doesn't mean that they also don't like chocolate) I do think Comics and Animation should be serparated into three.
1) Comics - for questions about comics
2) Animation - for questions about animation
3) Comics and Animation - for the crossover
The two terms can be synonymous, but a category for animation hosting a question specifically on comics makes little sense to me.

It might be better to separate it into Comics and Anime/Manga. Two different fan bases.

Yes because Comic Books and that form of artwork is different from Animation, sure there are some crossovers. but they should be in different categories.

no, because some of the questions have to do with the anime and manga (animetion and comics) like "whitch is better, the manga or the anime of _______?"
