We're not really paying much attention to how it's being spent. That much is clear from the report a couple of months ago that our money funded an in-ground swimming pool at the home of an Iraqi official. So since we're taking a Hurricane Katrina-like approach to accounting for the money we're hading over to Iraq, and since reports have come out recently that someone within the administration over there was plotting to kill the PM or deputy PM (I don't remember which)... has anyone thought that maybe the $4.2 billion we've spent trying to build this joke of a democracy in Iraq might actually be going to fund the next terrorist attack against the U.S.? Isn't that a frightening damn thought?

kapute: This question, you might have noticed, is not about Clinton. But I guess you have no response to what I said, so you have to invoke his name. My point is, we should have learned something since 9/11. But I guess if Clinton was president while we were funding terrorists, it's okay if Bush does it too. Thanks for chiming in. It's nice to know that you support Bush funding terrorists in this "post-9/11 world."

Why should it surprise anyone? The USA funded both Saddam when he was gassing the Kurds back in the late 80's and Osama Bin Laden when he was fighting the Russians.

Where did you get this so called "information" at? I'd like to read the reports that say we funded an in-ground swimming pool for an Iraqi official, and it better be some damn good source, not from John Stewart or the Colbert report... Like some official member of the government witnessed this first hand and reported it.. You can't take the word of some off the wall source that has no idea what's really going on. So just do us a favor and show some link or post it here on Y/A for all to see. I don't believe that for a minute and if you do, then you are a vulnerable human being and should examine how well your common sense is working.

it's quite possible.. the other day someone on here answered a question of mine and they said they were an Iraqi.. something they said stuck with me too... it was that it's not like kids are running around blowing people up.. it's someone comes up to a kid.. says "hey, I'll give you 50 bucks to go put this over there by the road" and the kid says heck yeah and does it.... sad.. so sad.

No doubt that the Maliki government contains many Shiite terrorists who run militias and death squads on the side. The US has also started supporting the Sunni opposition, believe it or not.

This is new? Where do you think most of our Foreign Aid ends up? When we were giving money to the PLO, where was it going? That's just one example. We've been padding dictators bank accounts for years. Call it legal bribery.

You cannot give ransome to the terrorists to protect you. Better keep them engaged till you can eliminate them. It costs money to do that. If you pay ransom, it would have veen costlier and you cannot save yourself even after that. Simple.
