Hi, I just bought a 1994 chapparal 24 and when I conect power to the shore power recepticl I have a reverse polarity warning light that comes on. I have tried power from my house and from a generator. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Check the plug receptacle on the boat for continuity and good connections to the boats' wiring. A short or failing connection in the plug receptacle can cause the reverse polarity light.

It sounds like you have reversed polarity in your boat in the lighting or accessory circuit. If the battery polarity was reversed the battery would be discharged by the engine alternator.

A schematic would be helpful but you should contact a professional otherwise you might do some expensive damage.

Sounds as if you have live and neutral wires reversed at the shore power side of the transfer switch. Get an electrician or someone qualified to inspect and and make the correction.
