I just watched this in the news, what do you think. Do you agree that this could protect US citizens or is this just another excuse to turn the US into a police state.

Should be required to is more to the point.

I was talking to a friend in the USAF, he says they arrest people all the time because they come up as illegals when they run their ID at the gate, people who are there to deliver something or pick something up or whatever. They hold them and call the INS (BCIS or whatever they are today) and tell them to come get their illegal, the INS just says to let them go, they can't be bothered to come get them.

Two and a half years until I can apply for citizenship... tick tock, tick tock.

As a legal permanent resident alien who went through the vast cost of immigrating legally (five years on low pay as an H1 slave) I think you (we) should arrest and deport all illegals.

All police officers take an oath to uphold all laws federal as well as local. All officers can make said arrests and I think should. Some local governments do not want to pay the freight for the amount of paperwork of consider themselves to be sanctuary cities and are ordering their police not to make those arrests. However, such orders are technique a violation of the law. It is called aiding and abetting!

The police take an oath to uphold the laws of the United States. This should mean ALL laws.

If we don't want a police state, just start ELIMINATING some laws. The CFR's for the Fed's is huge enough. When you add on state and local laws, it becomes unmanageable.

BTW, some estimates show ILLEGAL immigrants take $5,000.00 per person more out of the system than they put in.

Protect the citizens, we are tired of not having any jobs because they have been snatched up by illegals and if they aren't screwing then the companies are. Have you heard what Wal-mart and others are doing? They are firing/laying off people who cost too much because they have seniority and then offering them the Chance to get their old job back if they haven't already filled it with someone else who will do it for less money! They should change the slogan from HOME OF THE FREE to BRING YOUR OWN LUBE YOU'RE GONNA NEED IT!

I don't think it is a good idea, like you said it is just an excuse to turn the US into a police state, they are going to give the police more power and I'm not sure they know how to handle it, I'm an immigrant, were you talking about illegal immigrants??

Well since police uphold the law and entering the US illegally is a crime why cant they? especially if closing the borders is the most important thing right now

Police are called "sworn officers", meaning they have sworn to uphold the law and arrest all violators. There is no distinction drawn between crimes.
