They are practicing brinkmanship. Keep pushing and then at the last moment pull back. They do not seem to realize, or maybe they do, that they are going too close to the line. Even the Russians, their long time friend has pulled away from them. They are isolated. A lot of crackpots talk about North Korea joining in on Iran's side which shows a total lack of realism in world politics and national capabilities. Its not going to happen. The Koreans and Chinese don't like religious people full stop.
It is possible the Iranians want to become 'martyrs' to Islam. It is hard to fathom what goes on in what passes for a mind in these fanatics.

I don't know what Iran was thinking in kidnapping 15 British soldiers. This little stunt certainly won't help them get those nuclear "reactors" they want. If the soldiers are tried for espionage it is punishable by death in Iran. If they are executed I would really hate to be Ahmadinejad, because Britain (and hopefully the US as well) would retaliate very swiftly.
