This might be for an American audiance...but anyway. She works in D.C and is leaving her job anyway at the end of April. She has been asked to go to Denver for four days in mid April to train a person to do her job. She does not want to go. Anybody out there come up with a sensible get-out. She flies all the time, so a fear wont work. They can also move the date, so illness wont work either. Anybody with a sneaky mind????

Why doesn't she want to go? I live in London and have left my job today, so this week I had to go to Krakow (Poland) to train my replacement. I had the most fun ever! I got to meet loads of new people and they were all really nice and friendly and looked after me well. I got taken out for every meal and I stayed in a really nice hotel. The training didn't go great, but I still had fun. Okay going to Denver probably isn't as much fun as going to Poland, but she'll probably still have a great time.

Some day she will need a good recommendation from this company. This attitude she has proves she's not a team player. This is like giving herself a black eye. It may go away but you can never tell how much damage was done on impact. If she doesn't go, she will live to regret it, most assuredly.

She should exit that company with respect and dignity, not like a spoiled brat who falsifys a reason to get out of doing what's expected of her.

She should check in the contract if she is insured for travelling to work other than from her house to the office most companies dont cover this. Also look into if she has being a trainer in her job profile, if not state it is not in her job description. Or contact the companies personnel officer and union as anything you tell them or ask has to be done in confidence, and see if she can be made to go if not I would refuse shes leaving anyway whats the worse they can do fire her? Good luck sorting it out hope your friend manages to get out of it.

If she doesn't want to go, she can try asking her boss to send someone else. If she wants to keep her job, she might consider boarding the plane. I'd get my hiney on the plane, I tell you. April is a good time in Colorado. Good weather. Tell her about the great weather, that might help.
