The prehistoric coelacanth fossils were small, from a few inches to maybe 20 inches. But the modern coelacanth is five to six feet long.
I read the book by J.L.B. Smith, in which he tells how he managed to identify the first coelacanth to be found alive, when it had been thought extinct for millions of years.

The bigggest I've heard of was around 3 feet long, not sure the weight but guessing (from the picture) 20 or 30 pounds.

If I recall correctly, from a photograph I saw of the one caught off the coast of South Africa, it was about 1 meter long. If I were to guess the weight I would saw about 25 kg or so.
