I, too, am scared for the world. But, I would say that most people do care. They are just having so much trouble keeping themselves going that they don't take time to take care of anyone else. And don't kid yourself, most of the people who sit around crying "Poor Me!" and begging for someone else to help them are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. They just find it more convenient to let someone else do all the work. If you are one who thinks that the government should take care of all the poor down trodden souls are crying. Remember where the government gets the money to give them. We do. The hard working middle class, primarily, who are just trying to make a few buck to have a decent life. I say "Take care of the young, elderly, and disabled, and let the able bodied, in-betweens take care of themselves. I for one worked and took care of my children without help. I got discouraged sometimes but we had food on the table and a roof over our heads. I fear for the US in particular because it is getting nearer socialism every day.
Every time to government starts another gimme program it moves us ever nearer. I've watched a lot happen, good and bad, in our country and I can assure you that government wise it has gone down hill really badly in the last several years. I'm not referring to the Bush administration either. The things that he is being condemned for go on in almost administration. The news media is biased toward liberals and blow every mistake a conservative makes way out of proportion.

I am scared for the world as well, but this is a weight that should only be on God's shoulders or we would drive ourselves nuts. You are probably just meeting the wrong people. You have to learn to meet the right people. I found that when I joined up to volunteer, I started meeting the greatest warmest kindest people. If you want to volunteer at something you love you will be surprised how many wonderful people are really out there. People get negative and then negativity follows them, if you are positive positivity will follow also. Take care Heather

It is a very scary time in our world. There is so much uncertainty, ignorance, hatred and selfishness. It does seem like people only care about themselves and the people in their own little world. I guess they feel like if they ignore something, they can convince themselves it's not really happening. Also, if it doesn't directly affect them, they tend to ignore it. I wish the human race could come together and care about each other and our planet for a change, but I don't see that happening.

Because naturally, we don't want to get hurt.

We have two basic needs: to get pleasures and to avoid pain. When we were babies, our parents loved us so much. We were so naive, curious, open-hearted, and loving. But that means we took risk (like an ancient fortified city, when it opens it gates, many people will come and go for a visit, trade, etc, so it will be more lively; but enemies can get into the city more easily). As we grew up, we went through many bitter experiences and we remember them. This world is not a playground, oftentimes it is a battleground. We learned to "close our gates", just like the fortified city. We became ignorant. Sometimes we call "archers" to defend ourselves against the enemy. We learned to throw sarcastic words, cheats, lies, etc. Thus we developed our defence system due to our nature to keep survived. Sometimes we "open our gates" for friendly people, but when we face somebody we don't know, we close gates and check them carefully, like a guard. It's good to protect ourselves, but suspicion also limit our capacity to love others

I use to think this way 100% ...
and all i seen where all the mean humans that just didn't care.
it was because it was all that i choice to see!
try looking for that 1 good person once you find that one treasure them! and focus on that good person after that you'll have a hard time pointing out the bad people.. we know they are there but they seem to be slowly going away due to the laws of attraction!
as for the world - don't worry humans can't kill it in our life time!

I can't help thinking of what Buffy the Vampire Slayer said to Jonathan in the clock tower: Because they're all too busy with their own pain.

However, it's simply untrue that no people care.

A lot of people care a lot.

BTW, do you? Do you listen to people when they're in pain, or do you ignore?

Such things mostly happens with teens and young adults. Because they don't have a grip on the world.

Don't be afraid for the world, pray for it. Some people don't care because they are evil. I pray for those people. Thank you and may GOD come soon to right the wrongs that have been done on this earth.
