Between Child and Adult

She stood in the door way,
between child and adult.
Never thinking of her actions,
as being her own fault.

She thought of times,
Past and coming.
Afraid to grow up,
Trying to stay put yet knowing.

Afraid to cross that border,
Between child and adult.
She slipped the pill between her lips,
Thinking it’s not her fault.

She’s in her own world,
Separate from our own.
Her friends were there with her,
Comforting her moans.

Her dads at the door,
She’s lost her will.
He slaps at her face,
but doesn’t wake even still.

She stood in the door way,
Between child and adult.
Never thinking of her actions,
as being her own fault.

She didn’t want to continue,
to live her life stuck,
thrown in the middle,
Between child and adult.

I very nice poem that expresses the anxiety, the angst, the frustration of the teenage existence and any teenager who has a grasp of the awkward situation they are in will appreciate it. In places the change from one line to the next and the punctuation is quite unusual. "She didn't want to live her life stuck, thrown in the middle, Between child and adult" The mean is clear but the punctuation makes it a bit weird. All in all I like it, however.

Very good. It is a sad poem, but paints a clear picture.
