Referring to Fox News as "Faux" (pronounced "foh") News is implying that the network has very poor, or "fake", ("faux" in French) journalistic credibility. The FNN practices "yellow journalism" (employing loud noises, colorful/large graphics, and sensationalized stories) with a noticable conservative bias. Look at some of these screen captures for illustration:
http://welcome-to-pottersville.blogspot.com/2007/03/fox-news-at-its-finest.html
And then compare these to the journalism Code of Ethics:

Can you spot the discrepancies?

There are a great number of uninformed people in our country. They generally fail to see that all news has a bias.
Over the past 25 years or so, that bias toward liberalism and Democrats has become more pronounced.
Since Fox news was founded and has promoted a more conservative and Republican agenda, it has been the target of lots of criticism.
In my opinion, anyone who follows the news needs to have a variety of sources and then be able to sort out the fact from fiction. Fox News provides and alternative viewpoint that has some merit. It is not the end-all, be-all of factual news coverage any more than CNN or ABC. I don't include NBC in this, because their bias is so pronounced as to render then propaganda.

The real "faux news" is the lies CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and National Public Radio spew. Plus an anchor man as the White House Spokesman - which party do you think Chris Matthews, George Stephenopolus, etc. worked for.

"Faux" means false. These people have been brainwashed by the mainstream liberal media to believe that only the "established" news shows put out by the likes of the Clinton News Network and the Communist Broadcasting Service tell the truth. We know better. The mainstream liberal media is not interested in the truth -- all they care about is twisting the facts and adding opinions in order to promote their anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-America agenda. When it comes right down to it, they're p!$$ed off because FOX News is now highest in the ratings, which shows that the average American is now getting wise to the fact that the other networks are liberal lie machines.

Because they have a history of presenting gossip and innuendo as "news", jumping to conclusions based on opinion rather than hard facts. Followed by half-hearted retractions that imply that the story "might" be true, they just can't definitively prove or disprove it. Like when they reported that Obama Barak went to a school for Muslim terrorists-in-training (completely untrue). They also tend to, and present ridiculously lopsided discussions as legitimate debates. It's a propaganda channel, not unlike what passes for "news" in China and the old Soviet Union.

Faux = French for FAKE.
Faux "news" is really just a propaganda outlet for the NeoCons...I mean come on one of their "anchors" is now the White House press secretary.
They basically read the White House "daily talking points" issued by Karl Rove and scream down anybody who disagrees. The ALWAYS get the facts wrong on any reporting they do and then attack their critics as left wing wackos or terrorist sympathizers.
The TRUTH is NONE of the US "news" outlets tells you the truth or reports independently...THEY ARE ALL OWNED BY 4 CORPORATIONS...all of them, every radio, TV and print outlet.

"faux" means fake. Fox news is fake because it is so biased. It is the President's and his cronies' private public realtions company more than it is a news production. Every American with half a brain knows that.

Because those who do so don't like their slant on the news. They prefer the 'unbiased' reporting of CNN which is very biased in favor of their ideology.
