I would be interested in knowing what you thought of the book if you have read it. My friend says she can't decide if it is history or romance?

Yes, I have read it on-line and agree with the confusion. What I believe is that it is sort of the classic historical fiction. Probably no one bought the house at the address in reality, but the story tells the tale of history and what has happened over the years to this house and more importantly to the neighborhood. It's the story of a history and search for history that is enchanting and meaningful, but is probably historical fiction, fiction based on real life events, but fiction none-the-less.

It seems to me to be both.
