A 16-year-old girl from Honolulu, Hawaii, who caught a cold during a school spring break trip, and when the flight was about to take off, she started coughing for a brief amount of time. Until then, she was fine and breathing normally, the captain of that flight asked her to leave, with her chaperone, the plane flying over 10 hours in New Jersey. The captain of that flight quote, "The captain felt he was acting in the best interest of the passenger and other passengers on the flight."
I think clearly, the captain of that flight was not being fair or reasonable about the situation. That girl should have filed a lawsuit for unreasonable leave. Plus, the captain of that flight took it too extreme to the point where his actions were too unrealistic; making no connection the bird flu either since bird flu season is over. I think the situation should have been handled differently. What do you think? Do you think what the captain of her flight did was reasonable? Or no

Okay, maybe not a lawsuit, I was exaggerating a little on the subject, but still I think it wasn't fair, but I want to know if you guys think it's fair.

According to the passage from Yahoo!, The flight attendants gave her water, and a doctor on the flight said she would be OK to make the 10-hour flight. If you actually read the article.

If the girl looked like she was coughing badly, the pilot had no way of knowing how sick she was. Bird flu was not the issue; since bird flu is not passed from human to human. The pilot had no way of knowing what she had. Anyway, airline air is recirculated, and a person coughing or sneezing a lot could infect other passengers and people working on the plane. If she had been let on the plane sick, the other passengers and workers would have complained about being exposed to the germs, and rightly so. Also, flying at high altitudes can cause worse symptoms in somebody who is already sick.
It is unfortunate for the girl who had the cold, that she couldn't go on that flight, but then she had no way of knowing that she would get sick, either. Getting sick on vacation is always a bummer, but it's not the pilot's fault. Maybe she turned out to be less sick than she looked at the time, but given the information he had, he probably made the right decision.

If anybody makes other people uncomfortable because they are loud, smell bad, drunk, barfing, coughing, hacking, sneezing, irritating people in any way or possibly contagious of something, they should be removed. Passengers should not have to endure other peoples problems and maladies, especially when there is the potential that everyone else on the plane could become infected. Whether or not this person had something really serious or not, at least she showed signs and symptoms. Really, would you want to be the one to have to sit next to her for 10 hours. Please, . . . give me and the Captain a break. Someone has to make decisions and it was his job to look out for the passengers (not passenger) on the flight. He made the right decision.

The captain of the plane as a captian on a ship has the final say so in regards to his plane or ship. For the saftey and well being of all passengers. Maybe she did it so she could have more time in Hawaii.
