I have a 75% in this class with 70% of the points already accounted for, what grade do I have to get on the remaining 30% of the points to pass the class (70%)?

.75 x .7 + .3 y= .7

.525 + .3 y = .7

.175 = .3 y

y = .58333

58.3%. This doesn't mean you can stop trying though! Give 100 Percent ;).

0.7*75 + 0.3n = 70
0.3n = 70 - 52.5 = 17.5
n = 58.3%

Set it up:

(0.75 * 0.70) + ( X * 0.30) = 0.70
Solve for X.

X= 58 1/3 percent

Done.
