A bubble bath, then a nice fire with a warm cup of tea and a good book.

If the situation is one that can be confronted, then it is better to do so, as by pretending To forget about it, well, you won't. On the contrary, it will just stress you out even more. But never approach a delicate situation under stress, you need to calm your head first so you don't say or do something irrational! Go somewhere quiet, close your eyes, lift your arms up, breathe deep, let go slowly, let your arms down, smile to yourself and picture a happy thought! Remember, life is far from a bed of roses, it has thorns every inch of th way, NOTHING is worth gambling with your health, as that is what stress does. Always be optimistic, it could always be worse!

Pray, play, exercise, walk, ride a bike, fly a kite, watch a movie, talk to a friend, read a book, ......don't try to block stress, deal with it. Try not to react to it, just deal with it. And take many, many breaks.

Whatever is stressing you out, hasn't killed you yet, so be sure that it doesn't. Whatever you do that doesn't stress you out, stop a while and do that. Trust me, the situation isn't going anywhere...it can wait!

Good luck :-)

its better to deal with stressful situations head on. If you ignore them they just get bigger. If you fear them they become more stressful. Take a breath and charge the situation head on. You will feel SO much better once you get it over with!

My brain usually "shuts off" when I'm stressed, and I end up doing things (like Yahoo! Answers), reading a book or EAT! My brain will "shut off" for an hour, and after that I get back to my work.

forgetting or blocking it out is not the answer. if this situation is stressful then it may very well have somthing to do with your emotions concerning a guy that is not so much head over heels for you, of course I could be a long ways from the truth as there is very little info. but to close yourself off in any situation where there are imotions involved is unhealthy for you mind, you my think that you can shut off this thing, but the bottom line is: it will still be there for your subconcious mind to store this information and create the situation to happen again and again in your life untill you figure it out, take action and do what you got to do, you need not uverload your brain with such problems, plus the next time simularity's happen you will know how to deal with it. so be nice to yourself.

My natural tendency is to sleep ;) But more healthy ways of dealing with are talking to a therapist, writing it down in a journal, or redirecting the feelings of stress. For instance, if it's loss of control that stresses you out, take up a craft or painting, where you can feel in control of the outcome. If it's feelings of helplessness, try volunteering with the local animal shelter. If it's feeling victimized, take up a physical sport. You get the idea...

I turn into a cleaning machine when I am stressed out. I crank the stereo and scrub things until my arms hurt. I calm down and my house is super clean!

If still stressed I recommend shopping, and lots of it! If your stressed and it is your hubbys fault, use his checkbook!

From my personal experience and interaction with Psycology PHd's I can tell you what I have learned.

Respond Vs. React

Reactions are instinctive, rash, and with little thought, and we react when we feel threatened of receive stimuli that requires you to act in any manner or form.

Responses are choices you make with regards to your situation. You chose your behaviour, your words, to get stressed or to stay calm.

Remember your happines depends on you only, not on the situations around you, therefore you can choose to stress or to control yourself amidst difficult times.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, this issue goes much deeper into your past, your upbringing, and your perspective of the present and the future.

Success to you in your jurney to become a better person!

Forgetting an event and blocking it off is hazardous to your mental health. Many people do it, however. It is just a natural reaction to a stressful event. To my knowledge, (however novice), there is no way to force yourself to forget an event if your body does not do it naturally. an alternative to blocking the memory off may be to busy yourself with something completely un realated, and not thinking of the event.

This would be my advice to you, though it may be no help at all, I certainly hope I've put youre mind to rest.
