5.3v8 automatic silverado using tow function button, 75 mph. is it ok to use the cruise control?? Overdrive?? You hear so many myths. What is the truth? All I get is the run around no straight answer from my dealership. You see, its under warranty to they are pretty indirect with their answers. My full towing capacity is 7500 lbs.

i have the same rig and tow up to 7000 lbs. i use the overdrive and cruise both. the tow/haul button shifts the shift points of the tranny and should be used whenever towing. i have the factory tow package which may make a difference if you don't. 1200 lbs shouldn't overload your rig under any normal conditions. you might find the cruise can't keep the speed up on some hills however.

The vehicle's manual should say something about it. I would think that overdrive is fine because it just saves on gas. But cruise control is probably not safe, in case of an emergency situation.

Should be no problem. If you are in steep mountains, you might want to take control but on the level, this is going to produce less stress than filling the cab with burly passengers (assuming you have a rear seat)

If it's shifting in and out of overdrive constantly, you're causing more heat in your transmission. Heat = early death to a transmission.
