Follow the water to the source of the leak. For most washers, you can tilt them back and look underneath.

Because you've got a leak in the drum maybe or possibly the water connection at the back of the machine.

It is not the tub. The water source. Call a repairman or open the washer if you are a handyman.

i am confused, you said you could hear it leaking, but you did not say whether you SAW it leaking. makes a difference.
