Because he's a arrogant bastard, but mainly because big business isn't completely stupid. They figure that if they tie their name to this loser and he is finally revealed to have taken steroids think about the money invested and how much they would lose? They know, just like the rest of us, that sooner or later the truth will come out. They don't want to be anywhere near him when it does. They should as hell don't want his name on their product!!

Barry Bonds withdrew from the Players Union, and their related marketing agreements, several years ago. Thus, if a company wanted Bonds in their game they'd have to negotiate with him separately. Most games have a Barry-equivalent included with a made-up name - a quick Google search should tell you what he's called in any particular game.
There are a handful of other players not in the Union (mostly guys who crossed the picket lines in the '94 strike) where the same thing happens, and some games also do the "fake name" thing for minor-league players that might get called up but aren't yet in the Union.

Nearly everyone else's opinion here is simply that. If you want the facts, Barry - on his own terms - dropped out of the Major League Baseball Player's Association (MLBPA). This is the group that video games and baseball card companys and anyone that wants to use the image of a player wearing that player's team's logo (on a hat or uniform for example) must get permission from. Barry has refused to be a member of the MLBPA for about four or five years now - citing that he does not feel that other companys should make profits on his image if he is not. He made this decision prior to the rumors of steroid use.

Because he is greedy. He can make more money licensing his name himself than to allow the Player's Association to do it. In order to add Barry Bonds to a video game, the makers would have to negotiate a price with Bonds and pay him a fee. It is not worth their time to do this, especially since they can make a player that is similar to Barry Bonds, and allow users to edit player names and attributes.

because Barry is a money hungry baby, he is not making enough money on it and if he lets MLB license his name and image then he would have to share the proceeds with someone else. When was the last time you saw a Barry Bonds jersey? that's just Barry are you surprised?

I am not going to repeat what has already been posted but there are a bunch of other players who are currently not put in baseball games because they are not in the players union:
Kevin Millar
Damien Miller
Brendan Donnelly
are three other players who are not licensed, and are not in baseball games because they are not allowed in the union because they were scabs during the strike

When I worked for EA Sports, he was a weekly visitor there (when he lived in Hillsborough, CA) because a relative worked there as well. The EA Marketing dept. told me that he did not sign the Baseball Players Assoc. contract to be included in trading cards, memorabilia and videogames. He did all his dealings with memorabilia within his own personal business website. Topps Baseball Cards features him, but not sure what's up with his relationship with them.

Barry IS (by his own choice and for many years)NOT IN THE PLAYERS UNION/MLB PLAYERS ASSOCIATION that does the licensing/allowing the names to be on games and stuff like that. Barry does all of his stuff privately and independtly through his website
