About 10 years ago when my mom died. Shock gets you through - until you see your hard-as-nails, Vietnam vet cousin break down and cry. It was all over at that point. That was the hardest thing I've ever gone through & I still miss her. ♥

My aunt died in November and I am very grateful for having had the chance to speak to her and tell her i loved her and say goodbye because she died only 4 weeks and 5 days after being diagnosed with cancer. it was the toughest conversation i've ever had.

I think it would be interesting to know if anyone ever said goodbye to someone NOT knowing it would be the last time.

I think I'll post that question now.

July 9th 2003, to my mom. I looked in her eyes and held her hand. I didn't say the weepy goodbye. I made a comment that made her laugh with her last breath. I figure if she could laugh I don't need to feel sad for her passing.

When my 42 yr old brother in law died of a heart attack !
I held his hand in his coffin and said my goodbyes !
The toughest part was holding on to my nephew and having
him let everything out ! It was one of the toughest days of my life. That was 5 years ago, and I think of him almost daily,
I always remember him !
God Bless him !

My old golfing buddy 6 years ago. I was in the hospital with him for a relatively simple procedure but when they opened him up they said there was nothing they could do. So, we watched monitors for4 hours. We sang hymns for the last few minutes and said goodbye. I haven't played golf since, it's just not that appealing by itself.

The FINAL goodbye was the end of January. It was really tough. It was a very very bad situation. But it's all for the best.

Well ..the way I see it is that every time I say goodbye to someone...it could be the last time...so I try to enjoy their company as much as possible. You never know..I could just drop dead right now and this would be my last answer to you...so my dear friend have a good day and good luck in your life!

My Poppop died three years ago this April. He had lung cancer and decided not to seek treatment. Within a month of being diagnosed, he went from a strong man over six feet tall and 250+ lbs, to my poppop sick lying in a bed. He lost most of his weight. The last time that I saw him, I cried because he wasn't the Poppop I remembered. I felt bad, because I was trying to be strong for him and my family, and I didnt want him to know that it scared me to see him like that. That night he died and when they came to take him to the morgue, I couldnt go in to say goodbye; I was too scared to see him like that again, and wanted to remember him as the strong man he was. I feel bad to this day, but I hope that he knew I love him.

about 4 years ago. it was very tough. it was a couple of kids that i was with at summercamp where i used to be a volunteer. i was with them all 6 summers i was there. after those six years, i learned that they would not be coming there anymore and it was absolutely heart wrenching. we shared so much together and had so much fun. they were 7 my first year and 13 my last. i miss them so much even to this day. good luck.
