May be in the course of evolution we got programmed to take water when we feel thirsty (it has to quench the thirst if sufficient quantity is taken in, in a few cases, when the signal processing in the brain went a little off, people died by drinking water non-stop). I wonder how fish and some mammals which live in sea quench their thirst? Good question.

We were "born of water" and it comprises about 95% of our bodies. When thirst, it is because our water reservoir is low and it must be refilled for our bodies to function properly.
