you ovulate about 14 days before your period starts, that part stays consistant, if you are indeed ovulating. it's the time before ovulation that can get long, and with your cycle that long, there is a chance you are not ovulating very often.
so cycle day 10 is way too early for you to ovulate with a 44 day cycle you would more likely be ovulating around day 30 or so, I would start testing for your lh around day 27. Good luck

Women typically ovulate 14 days BEFORE their next period. It's a misconception that's it 14 days after their peirod, that's only the case in a 28 day cycle. This is because once the egg is released it takes about 14 days for it along with the lining of the uterus to prepare for your period when you aren't pregnant. With such a long cycle you probably ovulate around day 30. I have a 31 day cycle and ovulate on day 17. I've used the predictor strips and it has shown this 14 day rule to be true for me. Unfortunately with such a long cycle you have less fertile times throughout the year, so there's a longer wait between periods to have a fertile time. You can still get pregnant though, it happens all the time. If you aren't seeing the surge before you should ovulate, around day 28, 29 or 30, I'd go see your OB to make sure you are ovulating.

Day 10 in your cycle would seem sort of early for someone with a 44 day cycle. At this rate, you'll probably need a couple kits to be able to test for all those days. You may be better off charting temp for a month or so to find out approximately when you ovulate, then use the test strips. It would save you some money at least. If not, see your doc and see what they can do for you. Best of luck.

Sounds like you will need several ovulation kits in order to determine your fertile days. It can be expensive, but I would try for a few months with the kits and if that doesn't work, call your doctor. If you always have irregular periods, you could have PCOS, which will make it very difficult to conceive. Good Luck.
